Who is being sued?
The drug manufacturers are being sued on claims that they failed to warn people and their doctors about the harmful side effects associated with these contrast agents. See more information about Gadolinium Lawsuit.
How do I know if I have this disease?
There are many undiagnosed and misdiagnosed cases of Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis. The disease is relatively obscure, many doctors are still unfamiliar with it. NSF can be mistaken for other diseases like scleroderma or even arthritis. See more information about Gadolinium Side Effects. If you believe you might have this disease, you should have a dermatologist take a deep tissue skin biopsy from the affected area of the skin and then tested for NSF by a pathologist.

The public is slowly becoming more aware of a terrible disease known as Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis (NSF) that is associated with certain MRI contrast dyes. We have provided a list of frequently asked questions to help people understand the basics. If you have additional questions, please contact our law firm for a free case review.
Who is most at risk for developing this disease?
People with kidney problems are most at risk. This could include someone with:
• impaired kidney function
• high blood pressure
• diabetes
• on dialysis
• kidney infection
• someone who has had a kidney transplant or is eligible for a kidney transplant.
People with liver problems are also at a higher risk.
Which contrast dyes should I be concerned about?
There are 5 contrast dyes that contain gadolinium and they are listed below:
Omniscan® (otherwise known as gadodiamide, and might be referred to as Gd-DTPA-BMA in your medical records). This contrast dye is manufactured by GE Healthcare.
ProHance® (otherwise known as gadoteridol, and might be referred to as Gd-HP-DO3A in your medical records). This contrast dye is manufactured by Bracco.
Magnevist® (otherwise known as gadopentetate dimeglumine and might be referred to as Gd-DTPA in your medical records). This contrast dye is manufactured by Bayer Healthcare.
OptiMARK® (otherwise known as gadoversetamide and might be referred to as Gd-DTPA-BMEA in your medical records). This contrast dye is manufactured by Mallinckrodt.
MultiHance® (otherwise known as gadobenate dimeglumine and might be referred to as Gd-BOPTA in your medical records). This contrast dye is manufactured by Bracco.
What procedures are these contrast dyes used for?
• MRI
• MRA
• Angiogram
• Angioplasty
• CT scan
• Vengoram
• Fistulogram
How do I know if I have had used one of these contrast dyes?
If you drank the contrast dye, you did not receive a gadolinium based product. However, if you were injected with a contrast dye after 1987, you may have received one containing gadolinium.
Below is a court directory for your area. If you have been diagnosed with NSF, or if you believe that you are suffering from this disease, please contact our law firm for a free, no obligation consultation. Call Toll Free 1-866-777-2557 to speak with an NSF Lawsuit attorney or fill out our online contact form and one of our NSF Attorneys will get back to you as soon as possible.

Below is a court directory for your area. If you have been diagnosed with NSF, or if you believe that you are suffering from this disease, please contact our law firm for a free, no obligation consultation. How do I know if I have had used one of these contrast dyes?
If you drank the contrast dye, you did not receive a gadolinium based product. However, if you were injected with a contrast dye after 1987, you may have received one containing gadolinium.
Below is a court directory for your area. If you have been diagnosed with NSF, or if you believe that you are suffering from this disease, please contact our law firm for a free, no obligation consultation. Vanderhyde and Associates Law Firm is investigating Gadolinium Lawsuit cases nationwide. People that were injected with a gadolinium based contrast agent before an MRI, MRA, Angiogram, Angioplasty, CT scan, Venogram, or Fistulgram may be at risk for developing a disease known as Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis. The disease is most frequently found in dialysis patients, or people with kidney dysfunction (someone who is a kidney transplant patient or candidate). If you have high blood pressure or diabetes, you could be at high risk as well.
If I call your firm, what type of questions can I expect to be asked?
Have you ever had kidney problems? Have you ever had liver problems? Who is your diagnosing physician? Have you ever been on dialysis? If so, did you ever stop at any time. Have you been diagnosed with renal failure or chronic kidney disease? Acidosis? Reflux nephropathy?
Have you ever had an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) Cat Scan or MRA (magnetic resonance angiography). Did the contrast agent that was used contain gadolinium? What was the brand name of the contrast dye? Was it Omniscan® OptiMARK® Magnevist® ProHance® or Multihance®? How long has it been since you had your last MRI or CAT Scan or MRA?
Have you experienced any of the following symptoms?
- Deep bone point in the ribs or hip area
- Yellowing of the eyes
- Change in skin texture or color
- Burning pains in the skin
- Plaques, papules
- Calcification of the soft tissue
- Skin thickening and tightening
- Hair loss in the affected area
- Difficulty with flexing your joints, difficulty walking or closing a fist
- Yellow papules (bumps) in the whites of the eyes
Have you ever been diagnosed with Nephrogenic Fibrosing Dermopathy (NFD) or Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis (NSF)? Has the disease contributed to problems with your skin, lungs, hear or liver? What type of medical treatment have you received from your doctors? What state do you live in?
What are some of the legal theories that lawyers are using in this litigation?
Some examples include:
Negligent misrepresentation – providing doctors with false information that the drugs were safe and would not adversely affect the users
Fraud and misrepresentation – knowingly and intentionally making material and false and misleading representations that the product was safe, and failing to disclose risks in labeling and marketing of the products.
Breach of Implied Warranty – when a defendant knew of the use for which their product was intended and the implied warranty that the products would be of merchantable quality and safe for such use, and the products were unreasonably dangerous.
Breach of Express Warranty – when a defendant expressly warrants that their product is safe and effective, and the product does not conform to these representations.
Negligence – Duty, breach, cause, harm. The defendant had a duty to exercise reasonable care in the design, manufacture, sale, or distribution into the stream of commerce, and assure that the product did not pose a significantly increased risk, and the defendant failed to exercise reasonable care in the design, formulation, manufacture, sale, testing, labeling, marketing or distribution of the product into interstate commerce. As a direct and proximate result of the defendants negligence, people suffer serious harm.
Strict Products Liability – Defect due to failure to adequately test, Defect due to non conformance with representations, Defect due to inadequate warning, Manufacturing Defect
